My favorite 2025 holiday commissions

My favorite 2025 holiday commissions

I like doing commissions. People (and humanity in general) are so creative; we have big ideas and thoughts and dreams, but don't always have the tools or skills to bring our ideas to life. When someone commissions me to make something for them, it is a special little creative endeavor that I get a lot of joy from. Sometimes people will come to me with problems they want to solve (like the puzzle piece). Other times people will have a vague idea of what they want, and grant me creative license to put my own spin on something. The commissions I did near the end of 2025 were from people who knew exactly what they wanted and communicated it perfectly. Here are some of my favorites.

Blooming Cluster, but make it mossy

This Floral Cluster style of earrings takes me 8-12 hours of work per pair and is truly a labor of love. Each pair is custom made based on what color palette the customer wants. Typically I mix 4-6 different shades of clay to make the subtle gradient. In my "recipe book" of earring designs, I've mapped out how many blossoms from each shade need to be stamped out, how many blossoms need to be clumped together, and what chain link number it needs to be attached to. The result is a top-heavy, almost wisteria-like shape of earring when worn, not too heavy, and with plenty of movement. It's definitely a statement piece.

This customer knew exactly what they wanted. Deep, mossy greens starting with a forest green and fading to a sage green. Gold earring hooks, gold chain, with a pearl hanging from the bottom. The final result was so gorgeous, and if they didn't take so much time I would probably make a duplicate for myself.

Book stack with white daisies

Aren't these little book stacks so cute?! This customer knew exactly what they wanted, too. They DM'd me out of the blue asking if I'd do a commission for them to give as a gift. When I said yes, they immediately sent multiple inspo pics as a reference AND THEN sent a color palette with all of the hex codes. They already knew what jewelry type (huggie earrings) and metal (gold) they wanted.

If you've been alive on the earth for very long, you know how difficult it can be to drag important information out of people. For all of this pertinent design information to just be dropped at my feet was a dream. I was absolutely floored and said I'd make commissions for them literally forever. Then I called my best friend and shouted about what had just happened (you could probably hear me shout "...and they sent HEX CODES FOR THE COLOR PALETTE!!!!!" all the way around the world).

I like to conceal structural wires in all of my pieces so they aren't out in the open, and this particular design needed a prototype first. The prototype was super clunky, though, and needed a full remake. The final product turned out to be so adorable with the little flowers everywhere. I thought the gold lines on the book spines were a good touch.

Lily of the Valley

In late fall I was commissioned to make a pair of lily of the valley earrings for this customer's grandmother. I had been eyeing a particular lily of the valley clay mold for months and months, saying to myself "I'll eventually get it. Maybe in the spring." I ended up getting it a few months earlier than anticipated and it worked perfectly!

I wanted to take extra care with this pair of earrings. None of my grandparents are living anymore, and I miss them a lot. It's always an honor to be asked to make earrings for people, but I think the fact that it was for their grandmother hit me in my feels a little bit. I packaged the pair up nicely before mailing it before Christmas, making sure to use my lily of the valley wax seal for a little extra oomph.

Months later I received a message from the customer. They had recorded a video of their grandmother opening the gift on Christmas and sent the video to me. I'm getting emotional just thinking about how kind it was.

Floral threader

This commission makes me laugh. While I was working on the mossy Floral Cluster pair on my Twitch stream one Friday, I got a DM from a friend asking if I could make a pair of threader earrings for their wife's Christmas presents. "Sure!" I responded, while still live-streaming. Their wife was actively in the Twitch chat, and so I took the opportunity to ask my viewers (of course just hypothetically) "If you could have any color scheme or gradient of earrings, what would you choose?" We heard lots of different answers from chat, but my friend's wife gave a wealth of answers that told me everything I needed to know about the design. Months later after Christmas when she thanked me for the earrings, I told her about my super-sleuthing in chat and we all had a big laugh about it.

2025 was a great year, and I loved making all of these commissions. Every pair is an honor for me to make. To think that you all give my art as gifts, have dedicated spots in your jewelry boxes for things I make, and wear my designs at your weddings makes me pretty emotional if I think about it too long.

I can't wait to see what I get to do in 2026.
