Garbage Boombox

Garbage Boombox

I love weird art requests (within reason, of course). I got a message not too long ago from the beloved set-designer that I worked on The Play That Goes Wrong with. Our local community theatre was having an event with a theme that needed some old-school props and decorations. She said, "I have this piece of styrofoam - do you think you could turn it into a boombox?"

Using paint, pill bottle lids, googly eyes, popsicle sticks, yogurt lids, skewers, beads, and paint pens, I turned this piece of trash into a really fun looking boombox. I painted it on stream one night in early September.

Wild that this kind of low-stakes, silly art makes me feel really competent as an artist. It feels like a challenge, I guess? I have all of these skills that I've gained over many years, and I get to throw them all together at once in a short amount of time.
